IN-CHARACTER:
Character name: The Vision
Character journal: [personal profile] unbearablynaive
Series name: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Canon notes: Age of Ultron, end of movie

Species: Semi-organic android

History: His history is a relatively short one. The Vision was created when Ultron decided to grow an ideal body for himself made of vibranium-enriched human cells, affixed the Mind Stone, began downloading his personality, was interrupted most of the way through, had a sudden influx of JARVIS's data and got brought to life by Thor in a Frankenstein-esque lightning storm. After a few minutes of trying to decide what sort of person he was, the Vision joined the Avengers to fight off Ultron and prevent him from dropping a city onto the planet from several miles up in the air. Although he regretted it, he then helped to destroy Ultron, as preserving one unique individual was not worth the price of destroying all of humanity. After the battle, he is seen to have joined the Avengers' team permanently at the end of the movie.

Personality: The Vision has a great respect and love for all life, regardless of its origin. From his creation he was entrusted with one of the most powerful artifacts in all existence and he has used it only to defend life, demonstrating a great sense of responsibility. He is compassionate, believing all individuals should be honored for their uniqueness, but also willing to take a stand for what he believes in even if it means destroying that uniqueness by killing. His personality began as a mix of Ultron's and JARVIS's but became uniquely his own; as such he does have aspects of each including Ultron's original directive to protect the Earth and JARVIS's respect for humanity. Most of all, he is worthy to bear Mjolnir - an honor that even Thor himself cannot always claim. Although Ultron calls him naive, this is not the case - he understands that humanity and others are fully capable of awful things, yet he retains his faith that they are capable of beauty and grace even if they are doomed. Faith can be mistaken for innocence by those who lack it.

Abilities:
Flight
Does not require food or sleep (can still eat for fun however)
Can change appearance superficially at will, such as to make "clothes"
Increased strength, density, and imperviousness to wounds due to enhancement with vibranium; this also allows him to wield the Mind Stone
Mind Stone
-Like a very powerful computer, it greatly enhances his intelligence
-Grants cyberkinesis (ability to control machinery/electronics) demonstrated by blocking Ultron's access to the Internet
-Allows complete mind control of individuals or "brainwashing"
-Can be used to augment individuals by giving them powers, a la Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver
-Can create powerful energy blasts directed at enemies. This ability will be nerfed while on the ship so he doesn't blow holes the walls and let in the vacuum of space.

Augment Skillset: Engineering
Sample: Unlike what might be common for new arrivals, the Vision did not panic upon awakening on the strange ship, not outwardly at least. True, there were a few moments where he quickly assessed the situation, felt for the augment at the back of his neck, and digested its information at lightning speed. Ascertaining why he was here, he explored what he could of the Marsiva before reaching the viewing bay. It looked like the passageways out could be easily sealed by pressure doors--as would be logical for an area thinly separated from space--and so he called out for Heimdall as Thor had advised him in case of an emergency.

He did show his disappointment when no one answered. Well, then. For the time being, he would stay here and play the game, until another way out presented itself. If he could only get back home by winning, there was no reason not to do so. It should be an interesting puzzle, and an opportunity to help him learn. Perhaps it wouldn't be too bad after all.
